"Most of us haven't played the original Star Ocean when it was released on the Super Famicom in 1996, but the series was popular enough that Sony decided to take a chance on it with Star Ocean: The Second Story for the PS1, which proved to be really popular in America. Then, Square Enix decided to bring over the third game after it saw the warm welcome for the second. Long story short, most westerners haven't been able to enjoy an official release of the first game… until now. At the Tokyo Game Show the PSP remake of the original Star Ocean, dubbed First Departure had a modest setup in the Square Enix booth."
