Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition review at GameAlmighty.
"Twenty years after its initial debut on the Famicom, the second offering in Square Enix's Final Fantasy franchise has made the final leap into the current generation, after some minor technical steps forward with Final Fantasy Origins (PS one) and Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls (GBA). On the face of it, this version of Final Fantasy II appears to have everything that a fan of the series could crave; updated graphics, an art gallery where you can zoom in and out of extremely detailed depictions of characters and monsters, Amano-penned portraiture that appears in character dialogue boxes, plus a bonus dungeon. There's even a language option for gamers who'd rather view the text in Japanese. However, the one thing that I was hoping they'd change is back in full force and is as annoying as ever--the "leveling up" system from hell. [Since your characters never actually, "level up" I'm putting quotation marks.]"
